****The Continuation of this series will be determined on a week to week basis. There is a chance that the roads will become unpassable depending on the winter we end up with. If that happens, the series will pause or relocate until better conditions prevail.****

Join us for a winter full of Gravel riding to get in shape and “geared up” for the 2022 Finger Lakes Gravel Series.

4 Weeks of Training Rides starting Saturday 11/27/21 @ 9am

  • Training rides are free for all.
  • These will be a spirited paced group ride that will stop to regroup at every hill top and intersection.
  • The idea of this is to take some time to learn the course and make sure all confusing areas are clearly marked since the races will be 100% unsupported with no sag wagon or corner marshals.

Break for Christmas Saturday 12/25/21

8 Weeks of “Grass Roots” Training Races Starting 1/1/22 @ 9am

  • Races are $10.00 per race. (low price = low expectations)
  • Register for all 8 races or pay as you go at bikereg.com
  • Registration $$ helps cover insurance fees and series awards.
  • Weekly Results and Virtual (photoshopped) Podiums will be released sometime during the week following each race.
  • Series points will be released before the start of the following race.

2/26/21 Series awards Group Ride

  • There will be some awards.
  • Awards will be determined by the number of participants and could range from a dollar store coloring book to $1,000,000.00.

What the heck is a “Grass Roots” Training race?

  • Think of a fast group ride where no-one waits for you and when they’re done they just get in their cars and go home.
  • This is a simple way of saying “We may or may not score this accurately but we surely will do our best”.
  • There will be absolutely no amenities.
  • No bathrooms, no running water, no parking lot (Parking will be along the side of the road)
  • We will be racing against you and simultaneously scoring the race.
  • You will receive race results and series standing on a weekly basis but definitely not before I’m home, warm, showered and fed.
  • Super special podiums will be released on social media every week so all your family and friends will know that you’re super fast!
  • The best way to train for a race is riding at race pace… We’re just trying to provide the opportunity.

How will the series work?

  • We will offer 4 categories
    • Men
    • Women
    • Old Men (50+)
    • Old Women (50+)
  • You will be given 1 race number for the entire series. It is your responsibility to keep and bring this number to every race you participate in. You will not be given another. If you loose or forget it, you will be responsible to make a suitable replacement.
  • Race as many or as few races as you want.
  • Each weeks points pool will range from 1 to the number of racers participating. (more racers, more points available)
  • Points will be awarded in descending order from first to last place.
  • Most points by the end of the series wins!

Example: 10 Racers. First place=10 points, Second place=9 points,……..Tenth place=1 point.

*Races will be canceled in the event of a substantial amount of cold rain or heavy enough snow that roads are unrideable.

*Studded tires will be mandatory when conditions are icy so be prepared and get yours before all local shops are out of stock.

The course will be mixed surfaces and feature some of Wyoming Counties best paved and gravel roads.

We will start the season with an approximately 40 mile route and chop distance when needed as the weather turns for the “worse”.

The Start and finish will be at 1366 Folsomdale Rd. Cowlesville, NY 14037 where the Folsomdale Baptist Church has graciously allowed us the use of their parking lot throughout the series.

Be prepared for 2.5 hours in the cold, wet mud (give or take 30 minutes).
