Cross in the Park came out of Campus WheelWorks’ love of cyclocross and a desire to get more involved in our local racing community. We had been riding at Delaware Park and found it to be a perfect venue for what a cyclocross course often consists of: rolling terrain, natural obstacles, grass, mud, stairs, trees, and in our case the beautiful Olmsted Parks Stone Bridge. With an urban location we also knew this location would be accessible to hoards of spectators to which cyclocross is famous. With the help of many veterans from the community like John Roden, Jim Costello, Eric Curtis, and many more I have forgotten we put on one of the largest races of the season of 2010. Since then we have strived to raise the bar each year to bring WNY Cyclocross, Buffalo Olmsted Parks and The City Of Buffalo the best race we can possibly deliver. In 2013 we added a weekly cyclocross practice in Delaware Park to help bring even more new folks into the sport we love. It worked, and again our beginner classes were bursting at the seams at CITP 2013. In our opinion this is where the sport builds it future, in the youth and in new riders that were just waiting to discover the new addiction they didn’t know they had, CYCLOCROSS!

Cyclocross is a sport that is very accessible to many cyclists as a variety of bikes may compete on the courses and the fun atmosphere is intoxicating. For 2022 Cross in the Park will be held on Sunday September 18th. Cyclocross is a lot of fun for racers and spectators alike. We hope you can join us for a fun filled day in Delaware Park. We appreciate your support and without the support of all our sponsors, volunteers, Buffalo Olmsted Parks, our racers and spectators this would not be possible.
